Cheltenham Festival 2010 - St Patrick's Day

Day 2 - 17th March 2010

St Patrick's Day

Anyone for seconds......

Its day two which kicks off with the National Hunt Chase, the oldest race of the Festival for amateur riders only. A very hard race to predict and one that favourites have a poor winning record in.

The Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle follows, this race as always looks set to be a tough one. There are quite a few who could turn out top class, Rite Of Passage, Finian's Rainbow and Peddlers Cross to name a few.

The RSA Chase looks a treat in store with the chief among them being Nicky Henderson's duo of Long Run and Punchestowns, Nick Williams's Diamond Harry and Ian Williams's Weird Al.

The highlight of the day comes next with the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the talk of the day will be about those that dare try and stop Master Minded from doing it three years in a row. Cetainly he faces a stiff task against the likes of Twist Magic, Kalahari King and Big Zeb to name just a few.

The Coral Cup brings about massive betting turnover, not a great race for the favourites, choose carefully and you could be quids in!

The Fred Winter Juvenile Novices' Handicap Hurdle follows, a large field of improvers, be careful not to put a hole in your pocket with this one.

All to soon it's the last of the day with the Champion Bumper, a race that trainer Willie Mullins knows a thing or two about!
