Grand Prix Darts

The Grand Prix Darts tournament is held every October in Dublin. The event used to be in Kent, but moved to it's current venue in Ireland in 2001.

The Grand Prix is one of the only events where players have to begin the leg by hitting a double. Add to this the shorter matches in the earlier rounds, and it's certainly possible to see some big shocks early on here. This is born out by Phil Talyor losing twice in the first round here in 2001 and 2004. Other than that, he's gone on to win this tournament seven times.

The first round is a best of three sets affair, whilst the second round moves to a slightly longer best of five sets format.
