One of the first PDC tournaments to be held in the USA, the Las Vegas Desert Classic was inaugrated in 2002, and held at the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel - but has since moved down the Vegas strip to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
Interestingly, because of the time difference, matches are played in the morning local time, as this is prime time viewing in the UK on Sky Sports.
Another fact to note is that the draw is comeletely random, therefore there are no seedings and potentially some very juicy first round clashes.
The 2007 Tournament
The opening day of the 2007 tournament saw some shock results - most notably Mark Dudbridge beating three-time Desert Classic champion Phil Taylor 6-5. Dudbridge became only the second player to beat Taylor on Sky Television since his World Grand Prix defeat to Andy Callaby in October 2004.
Raymond van Barneveld beat suprise finalist Terry Jenkins easily to take the crown, 13 legs to 6.
