Football Betting » Villarreal v Celtic - Champions League Group Stage
Villarreal welcome Celtic to the El Madrigal stadium later today for this second Group E Champions League fixture which can be viewed live on Sky Sports.
Villarreal had a very good start to their Group campaign when holding current Premier League and Champions League holders Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, this will no doubt have given the Spanish team an abundance of confidence and will no doubt be looking at victories over Celtic and Aalborg to send them into the next round.
Celtic had a surprising 0-0 draw against Danish Champions Aalborg at home in their opening Champions League fixture and they face a very tough task later tonight when taking on Villarreal at the El Madrigal.
Celtic have a terrible record away from home in the Champions League, having only ever registered one point on their travels from a possible 45 and that figure doesn't look like increasing after tonights game against a tough Spanish side.
Barry Robson has handed Strachan a boost by recovering from a groin injury which forced him to miss last weekend's win over Aberdeen. German defender Andreas Hinkel is missing with a thigh problem, but Gary Caldwell is available after serving a domestic suspension.
Mark Wilson will start at right-back in place of Hinkel, while Caldwell could replace Glenn Loovens and in form striker Georgios Samaras is expected to be given the nod to plough the lone furrow in attack with Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink dropping to the bench.
Aiden McGeady is pushing for a place in the starting line-up after finding himself on the bench for recent games.
Villarreal are still missing Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci through injury, meaning former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi will lead the attack. Gonzalo Rodriguez is available again for the Yellow Submarine and Robert Pires is set to start in midfield.
Chilean midfielder Matias Fernandez and former Arsenal defender Pascal Cygan have both been left out of the squad by Manuel Pellegrini and Summer signing from New York Red Bulls Jozy Altidore is ineligible for the tie.
Summary
Celtic just don't seem to perform when away from home in this Competition and tonight they will be going up against a very good Villarreal team who have proved extremely difficult to beat, both at home and away as Manchester United found out in the opening game.
Im extremely shocked by the price of Villarreal here and this should be taken with open arms as I find it extremely difficult to believe that Celtic have any hope at all here.
