England return from their arduous 7,000-mile round trip at Kazakhstan looking to go a step closer to World Cup qualification when they face part time minnows Andorra at Wembley this evening live on ITV.

Fabio Capello's England chalked up their sixth straight qualifying victory with a 4-0 triumph in Kazakhstan on Saturday. Gareth Barry crowned an eventful week following his £12m move from Aston Villa to Manchester City by heading in his first competitive goal for England from Steven Gerrard's cross five minutes before the interval.
As Kazakhstan tried to recover from this setback, Emile Heskey delivered his first competitive England strike in seven years in first-half stoppage time to effectively confirm the victory. Wayne Rooney, a subdued figure for the most part here, demonstrated his class with a stunning overhead kick 18 minutes from time, followed by Frank Lampard adding a fourth from the penalty spot to gave the scoreline a convincing appearance after Heskey had been hauled down.

England have a seven-point lead over Croatia and victory over Andorra, would leave them 10 clear and needing just three points to book a place in South Africa next year.

Joe Cole scored twice in the match against Andorra in September 2008 - the first competitive fixture with Capello as coach. Since then England have won every qualifier, defeated Germany and Slovakia in friendly matches, and the only blips being a draw against the Czech Republic and a loss to Spain, in their other two friendlies since last August.

For Andorra, scaling the Pyrenees inside their tiny principality could provide a more realistic prospect for the minnows than the Everest-style ascent of beating England at Wembley tonight. The Principality were comprehensively beaten by Belarus 5-1 in Grodno on Saturday, taking their record to six defeats from six World Cup qualifiers, conceding 19 and scoring only two goals to sit firmly bottom of Group 6.

But regardless of their status as the regular whipping boys of the international arena - three wins, 72 defeats and 231 goals conceded in their 84 matches - Andorra aim to frustrate Fabio Capello's men beyond belief, as they hope to take a leaf out of Chelsea's book to do it after their battling 0-0 draw at Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

The part-timers of Andorra, a country wedged between France and Spain and whose 83,000 population could comfortably fit inside Wembley stadium, have gradually brought the score down against England. It was 5-0 at Old Trafford in 2006 and 3-0 and 2-0 in Barcelona in 2007 and 2008, when they held England to 0-0 at half-time.

England will be without central defender Rio Ferdinand and midfielder Gareth Barry for the visit of Andorra. Ferdinand missed the 4-0 win in Kazakhstan on Saturday with a calf injury while Barry, one of the scorers, picked up a yellow card that rules him out through suspension.

Coach Fabio Capello has also hinted he is considering resting players who are one booking away from suspension - David Beckham, Glen Johnson and Emile Heskey are all one yellow card away from missing the World Cup qualifier against Croatia on 9 September.

With Michael Carrick missing because of a foot injury, Capello has no natural replacement for the defensively minded Barry in his squad and may favour a more attacking formation.

Andorra's skipper, best-known player and record appearance holder Oscar Sonejee - will win his 80th cap tonight - has figured in all three previous meetings with England. He will try to frustrate England, while also adopting both legal and underhand tactics.

Coach David Rodrigo is set to utilise a 5-4-1 formation at Wembley in order to frustrate the home side, whom he rates as one of the most potent attacking teams in the world.

England coach Fabio Capello and the players have stressed the importance of avoiding complacency against the part-timers from the Pyrenees but whatever 11 English players take to the Wembley turf a seventh consecutive Group Six victory should be a formality.
