Football Betting » Belarus v Serbia - International Group Stage
The highly rated Serbian's face Belarus in their second game of the European Under-21's Championship in Malmo on Friday afternoon live on Sky Sports.
The Serbians were unlucky not to beat a highly-rated Italy on Tuesday evening with the game finishing 0-0. They came close to scoring the decisive goal but Gojko Kacar - who'd previously netted seven times in 11 U21 appearances - hit the post with a late overhead kick and Manchester United's Zoran Tosic placed a left-footed free-kick just wide of the post. The way Serbia finished the game - they were the stronger side in the second-half - suggests they should have no problems gaining their first win of the tournament if they carry that momentum into this match.
They are however without striker Filip Djordjevic, their top scorer in qualifying with five goals. Serbia is likely to have large support in this tournament due to the big Serbian community in Sweden and that could make the difference in this clash.
Belarus are big underdogs in the group and suffered a 3-1 defeat to their opponents in qualifying and will be looking for revenge in this clash. However the Belarusians showed exactly why they are rank outsiders to make an impact in the tournament by being thrashed 5-1 by host nation Sweden in the opening game of the tournament.
The eastern Europeans actually took the lead in that game thanks to a superb Sergei Kislyak drive but serious defensive flaws quickly emerged and Sweden ran out comfortable winners thanks to a Marcus Berg hat-trick and further strikes from Rasmus Elm (with the help of a deflection) and Gustav Svensson.
Belarus' only goal against Sweden was strike out of nothing, and it's difficult to see them producing a similar moment of brilliance once again. The attacking side of their play throughout the remainder of the match was mediocre, to say the least, so Serbia's highly-talented side have every chance of enjoying a comfortable win today.
The Serbs finished runners-up in the previous competition and have a very talented group of players, with players such as Manchester United's Zoran Tosic and Ajax's Miralem Sulejmani in their squad.
The star of the Belarus team is midfielder Sergei Kryvets, who plays his club football for BATE and the talented player scored the first ever Champions League goal in the history of his club against Juventus in September 2008. Another player to watch out for is Dinamo Minsk midfielder Sergei Kislyak, who is a free-kick specialist.
