Barnsley play host to Manchester United later tonight in this Carling Cup Fixture, which can be seen Live on Sky Sports with a 7:45pm Kick Off Time.

Barnsley under the guidance of form United player Mark Robbins face a difficult task against the Premiership Champions later tonight, although Barnsley fans would of seen the poor showing United gave against Liverpool at the weekend and with Ferguson bound to make a lot of changes they will certainly be optimistic of their chances. They have already taken a Premiership scalp this Season having already disposed of Burnley 3-2 in the previous round and Mark Robbins and his staff have done a tremendous job in charge since their arrival in September.

Manchester United again came unstuck at the weekend against bitter rivals Liverpool and there was no doubt a lengthy discussion in the dressing room afterwards as Vidic saw Red for the 3rd consecutive United v Liverpool showdown. There can be no doubt that Manager Alex Ferguson will give a few opportunities to the fringe players although I fully expect there to be a mixture of 1st team and squad players involved tonight as another defeat so quickly could have a huge negative impact at the club.

Ryan Shotton, Andy Gray, Carl Dickinson and Nathan Doyle have all previously played in this competition for other Clubs this Season and will take no part in tonights lineup. Other than the players mentioned Mark Robbins has a full strength side to choose from.

Gabriel Oberta looks likely to be handed a starting place having finaly recovered from injury. Van der Sar will take a rest between the sticks, but its not yet clear who will stand in out of Foster and Kuzszcak. Jonny Evans, Wes Brown, Darron Gibson, Danny Welbeck, Nani and Michael Owen will also all be involved in the starting lineup.

Summary

There was no question in anyones mind that Alex Ferguson would make significant changes to the side that lost to Liverpool at the weekend and it will be interesting to see how the squad players do against a strong looking Barnsley side.

Having already beaten Burnley in the previous round, all Barnsely fans will be in confident mood that they can achieve something from tonights game, especially with so many first team players missing for United and with home advantage and a packed out Oakwell Stadium it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see Mark Robbins men win this Cup Tie.
