Football Betting » Arsenal v Liverpool - League Cup 4th Round
Arsenal play host to Liverpool later tonight at the Emirates Stadium in this 4th Round Carling Cup Fixture, which can be seen Live on Sky Sports with a 7:45pm Kick Off.
Arsenal were held to a surprising 2-2 draw at the weekend against strugglers West Ham United, which underlined their problems at the back. There is no doubt in anyones mind that Arsenal are capable of scoring at anytime of a game, but their back 4 and keeper always seem to struggle and make costly mistakes which leads to them conceding goals which was been evident all season.
Liverpool, fresh from their weekend triumph over Manchester United will go into this game in confident mood after a succession of dissapointing perfomances prior to the weekends victory and it will be interesting to see how many changes Rafa Benitez makes with 2 important games on the horizon. Liverpool have always taken this competition seriously and will want to keep their winning run in tact, but Benitez has surely got his mind on the weekends fixture away to Fulham and the following midweek Champions League fixture away to Lyon at the top of his agenda.
Arsenal Team News
However, on the eve of Arsene Wengers 60th Birthday the French tactician will rest a majority of the 1st Team and give his youngsters a chance to shine with the likes of Coquelin, Randall and Watt all looking likely to be handed a starting place. Samir Nasri and Lukasz Fabianski will make their first appearances of the season and will join Eduardo and Bendtner in the starting lineup.
Liverpool Team News
Gerrard is recovering well from his groin problem but won't be risked tonight and its also doubtful that Torres will be involved although there is no official statement of this on the Liverpool website. Andrea Dossena and Sotirios Kyrgiakos have both been out with respective injuries but both look to be involved in tonights game at some point.
Summary
A difficult game to predict a clear winner as neither team will be at full strength. Arsenal have always done well in the past when their youngsters got a chance on the pitch and with Nasri, Eduardo and Bendtner leading the attack they certainly look the more likely to win this game in my opinion.
Liverpool had a great result at the weekend over Manchester United, but with Fulham and Lyon up in their next 2 fixtures I would expect Benitez to rest the key players and give others a chance.
For me Arsenal look good value with the Bookmakers to win this at 2.20 with Skybet and are well worth a few quid to do the business again with their youngsters.
