First held in 1999, the Malaysian Grand Prix takes place at the Sepang International Circuit in Sepang, near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

This happened in 2001 when both Ferraris spun out at the same corner during a massive downpour.
The circuit is regarded as a benchmark for other F1 facilities, with an extremely modern pit area and media complex. The track was designed by Hermann Tilke, who went on to design the new tracks in Bahrain, Shanghai and Turkey.
The layout of the Sepang circuit is fairly unusual, with two very long, wide straights seperated just by one haripin turn. Concerns have recently been raised that the track is becoming uneven - this is most likely due to the fact that the circuit was built on a swamp area, and is sinking slowly.
