The British Open Championship is one of the four Golf Majors but is the only one held outside of the USA.
It was first staged in 1860, making it the oldest of the four Majors.
The location for the event changes each year and is played on various historic "links" courses in England and Scotland on a rotational basis.
For 2010, the Open is being staged on the Old Course at St Andrews, a 7305 yard, par 72 golf course.
