Betfair Cup

The Betfair Cup is a 7f contest for three year olds and above run at the Glorious Goodwood meeting. This year, the field is significantly smaller than it has been in the past - eight go to post to be exact and Infallible is looking to add a well deserved Group 2 victory to her name.

The race is a fairly new addition to Goodwood's premiere meeting, having only been run since the turn of the millenium. It is sure to always be run at a fast pace and Dunelight will be looking to go one better than last year, when finishing third to Tariq after attempting to make all. Interestingly, Jimmy Fortune (stable jockey to John Gosden) has been elected to ride Racer Forever instead of retaining his partnership with Infallible, who has ridden the filly in all her races to date.

Favourites do have a good record here, with three winners in the last five years but perhaps more significant is the fact that no filly has ever won the race (albeit it's only been run seven times) and that does go against Infallible. King of Dixie was placed second behind Racer Forever lto at Newmarket and horses placed at Newmarket have a habit of going on to win here.
