The Champion Hurdle Trial is run at Haydock Park racecourse in January. A race for the four year olds and above it has a distance of two miles with eight hurdles to be jumped.
As the name of the race suggests you would expect to gain some insight to which horses will run well in the Champion Hurdle. However this has proved to not be the case as this race has a dismal record for providing us with the winner at Cheltenham some two months later.
However the race is hotly bet on and there is usually not an upset here with the favourites and second favourites usually going on to win.
