Cheltenham Novices Hurdle

The Ballymore Properties Novice Hurdle is run on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Previously known as the Royal & SunAlliance Novices Hurdle it changed its name to its present one in 2007.

Open to four year old novice horses and above it is always contested by the best novice horses in National Hunt racing. A very demanding event that requires speed, stamina and juming ability to jump the ten challenging hurdles that they will be faced with.

The Irish have a good record here but being a novice event it can prove difficult to pick the winner, punters usually look to form in any other racing event and the odds can change dramatically in the build up to this race.

This race has a great record for producing outstanding future talent with the likes of Istabraq, Monsignor, Barton, Fundamentalist and more - all going onto big success both as hurdlers and staying chasers.
