The December Hurdle is part of Leopardstown Four Day Christmas Festival held at Leopardstown racecourse, it is a major race in their programme.The race attracts a very large competative field including some of the up and coming stars from the leading yards and is always popular with the betting public.
Many famous horses have won here including Moscow Flyer, Macs Joy and of course Istrabraq who has won it four times.The race is part of a four day festival that is attended by thousands of racing enthusiasts, many of the trainers and owners use this race as a trial for the following Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The race is always contested by some if the best stayers and the meeting provides plenty of betting opportunities.
