The Irish Champion Stakes is held at Leopardstown racecourse.It is a Group 1 race for three year olds and above and covers a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs. Sponsored by Tattersalls the race is now known as Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes, it is one of the worlds greatest flat races, and always has a high calibre of entries.

The list of past winners in this race reads like a who's who of horse racing greats. Daylami, Swain, Giant's Causeway, Fantastic Light, High Chapparal and more have their names on the trophy.

When looking to pick the winner it is useful to look at horses that have had a successful season and probably one that has won a group 1 race. Because the race comes at the end of the season it is easier to see which horses have been successful over this distance
