The Irish Oaks is a 1m4f flat race for three year old fillies run in early July at the Curragh.
It normally contains several of the horses from the English Oaks at Epsom as many trainers have problems preparing their horses for May and therefore, the Irish equivalent is seen as a kind of consolation.
Aiden O' Brien is in flying Group 1 form, with no less that 12 winners so far. He saddles six runners in a fourteen strong field and has to be respected.
Even more so however, is O' Brien's stable jockey Johnny Murtagh who has racked up an impressive four winners in the past decade. John Oxx also has multiple wins in the race, as does Ed Dunlop.
