The John Smiths Hurdle is a Grade 2 National Hunt race which takes part at Wetherby racecourse. Run over a distance of three miles one furlong it is open to horses of four years of age and above.
Always a popular race and has been won by some real equine superstars in recent years, there are twelve hurdles for the horses and jockeys to jump. Although open to horses from four years of age the winner is usually found in the older age range, the youngest horse to win here was five years of age in 1991.
