Held at Ascot racecourse, the Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle is a fairly new event, first ran in 2001. However, it is Europe's richest handicap hurdle race and one of the most competitive hurdle races of the season which sees a great showdown between the English and Irish horses.
You'll often see a shake-up in ante-post markets for Cheltenham after this race as many declared runners for the festival will run here.
It is run over two miles and the ground can often be testing because of the time of year it is run.
Horses from the top yards do well here but not ones that are heading the betting, usually that is, so perhaps dig a bit deeper than the leading contenders when looking to find the winner of this race.
