Lincoln

The William Hill Lincoln is the first major handicap flat race of the season. It is a big betting event as punters more interested in the flat are eager to get stuck in after a long national hunt season!

Open to horses of four years of age and above it was first run in 1858 where is was known as the Lincolnshire Handicap.

The race is ran over one mile at Doncaster racecourse in late March or early April.

The race is quite often a cavalry charge with horses from the top yards all being contenders, being the first flat race of the season it is difficult to predict the winner with punters having very mixed views. However it is a race in which the draw usually plays plays a key role with low drawn runners seeming to be more favoured.
