The David Nicholson Mares Only Hurdle was a new race for the Cheltenham Festival at Cheltenham racecourse in 2008, running on the first day it is open to mares of five years of age and above.

Race distance is two miles four and a half furlongs and it seems set to become a very popular race with trainers and punters alike.

Named after the late David Nicholson who was known as the 'Duke' in racing circles was a great character and a supporter of British breeding.
