Matron Stakes

The Matron Stakes is run over a distance of one mile it is open to three year old fillies and above, a Group 1 race that always attracts a wealth of talent and this year in 2008 it is no exception.

Lush lashes trained by Jim Bolger is heading the betting and deserves to do so, she has had a great year wining the Musidora Stakes, the Coronation Stakes and the Yorkshire Oaks in August, on a negative she can be a little difficult to ride but even so she will take some beating here.

Top trainer A P O'Brien saddles four runners this year, Listen and You'resothrilling who are making their first run this year. Both are top class juveniles. Listen winner of the The Fillies' Mile in September last year has since suffered setbacks, this will be her return to work so it will be interesting to see how she goes.

Halfway To Heaven another of A P O'Brien entries has won her last two races, The Irish 1000 Guineas and The Nassau Stakes where she beat Lush Lashes, the race loks set for an interesting rematch between these two fillies.

Another interesting contender has got to be Nahoodh trained by Mark Johnston, she won the Falmouth Stakes in June and came fourth in the Prix Rothschild on her last start. She is reported to be in great shape and could well challenge here.
