The Kerrygold Champion Chase is part of the Punchestown Festival in April, the race starts the festival which is always attended by the top horses, jockeys and trainers in National Hunt Racing.
A grade one race it has a racing distance of two miles and is open to horses of five years of age and above.
The very best two milers will go head to head here, a lot already having met earlier in the season. When looking to find the winner here a good indication could be those horses that ran well in the Queen Mother Champion Chase the Cheltenham Festival.
The festival as a whole is well attended and always sets record breaking betting figures and the total prize money is over €2.1m.
