The Queen Mother Champion Chase is part of the Cheltenham racecourse festival in March. It is regarded as the Championship for the best two mile chasers and is the highlight of day two.
Run over a distance of two miles it is for five year old horses and above who are required to jump twelve fences over 4½ feet high during the race. In 2007 it became known as the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Many famous names have won here and gone on to be some of the best steeplechasers in history - Moscow Flyer who won twice and Badsworth Boy who has won it three times in the 80's to name just a couple.
Those horses heading the betting generally do well here, it takes a class horse to have the speed and jumping ability to do well over this course, and records show that those that are slightly older at around eight or nine do rather well..
Favourites and previous Arkle winners have a good record in this race generally.

- Only one horse older than ten has gone onto win and that was in 2005
