The Ryanair Chase is part of the Cheltenham Festival which is in March, it has a racing distance of two miles five furlongs.
It is also known as the Festival Trophy Steeplechase and is run on the new course.
Open to horses of five years and above it was introduced into Cheltenham in 2005 when the festival was increased to a four day meeting.
High class horses always contest this event, ensuring there is plenty of betting activity, it is a race where the horses that head the betting usually prevail. No horse of odds greater than 9/2 have gone on to win here.
The Paddy Power Gold Cup from earlier in the season may be a good pointer to this race.
