The Betfred Swinton Handicap Hurdle began its life as the Royal Doulton Handicap way back in 1978 when it was the most valuable race of its kind in Britain.
Many horses that have won this race have gone to to achieve greater things including Macs Joy who won in 2004 and Intersky Falcon in 2002.
The race is held at Haydock racecourse and has a race distance of two miles, and is open to horses of five years of age and above.
