The Tommy Whittle Chase is run at Haydock racecourse towards the end of the year in December.
Race distance is three miles, it is quite a significant race in that it is often contested by horses that will run in the major staying races later in the season so could well point us to the winner in those.
Quite often the ante-post betting markets for future events will change as soon as this race has been run, especially the Aintree Grand National.
