The Totesport Bowl was first run in 1984. Previously it was known as the Martell Cognac Cup and the Martell Cup Chase (also more recently the Betfair Bowl).
The race is part of the Grand National Meeting held at Aintree racecourse in April every year and is a race often contested by Gold Cup horses.
It is a Grade 2 National Hunt chase for five-year-olds and above and is run over a distance of 3 miles 1 furlongs.
