Totesport Bowl

The Totesport Bowl was first run in 1984. Previously it was known as the Martell Cognac Cup and the Martell Cup Chase (also more recently the Betfair Bowl).

The race is part of the Grand National Meeting held at Aintree racecourse in April every year and is a race often contested by Gold Cup horses.

It is a Grade 2 National Hunt chase for five-year-olds and above and is run over a distance of 3 miles 1 furlongs.

Key Trends for the Totesport Bowl

Older horses have a good record here with twelve 10yo+ winning since 1984 so look for horses that are aged in double figures.
Contrary to popular belief that horses rested for the meeting do better, most winners here ran in the earlier Cheltenham festival.
Irish winners are thin on the ground with just two winners in the past ten years.
Look to prominent racers, and consider the second or third favourite as they have a great winning record here.
