The William Hill Gold Cup (previously known as The Haldon Gold Cup) is a National Hunt chase held at Exeter racecourse. It is two miles long and many of the top two mile chasers will be there to battle it out.
Exeter racecourse is known as one of the loveliest in the country. It is situated high on Haldon Hill with wonderful views over Dartmoor. Many National Hunt Champions have made their names here, the most famous being Best Mate who tragically died during The Haldon Gold Cup in 2005 after suffering a heart attack.
Best Mate began his career at Exeter in 2000 and won The Haldon Gold Cup the following year in 2001.The race is always popular with plenty of betting turnover and the bookies usually offer some great joining offers on this race.
The field is normally a large one and you can almost guarantee that you will see some two mile superstars there.
