A key trial for the Triumph Hurdle the 2009 racingpost.com Adonis Juvenile Novices Hurdle gets underway on Saturday at Kempton racecourse.

Nick Gifford has Helium who made his British debut over hurdles in November and scored at the first time of asking, previously a winner over hurdles in France he again arrived home first at Sandown at the beginning of December. A keen sort who looked happier on a right handed track, he could run a big one here.

Nicky Henderson has produced the winner here for the paast two years, he rests his hopes in 2009 on Excape who struggled with heavy ground last time out at Plumpton to disappoint and arrive home last.

Alan King has won here twice in recent years and currently has a trio of entries, Saticon who won his hurdling debut back in October but has failed to deliver anything special since and Cosmea a filly who looks of promise after scoring in her debut and backing this up with a win in her last race back in November. It will be interesting to see how she returns to work after the break.

Paul Nicholls has Hebridean who will have a tough task, but has the ability to do the buisness. He came runner up to Ainama at Kempton on his last run where he showed he is quite capable of winning races. He could well go one better here.
