This years 1000 Guineas winner Ghanaati goes off as favourite for the 2009 Coronation Stakes, trained by Barry Hills she suprised many with that win, and the impressive fashion that she did it in.

She is the daughter of Giant's Causeway and had previously had just two starts last season taking the last with six lengths to spare. She is reported to be very well and bang on target for a reapeat of the Guineas here.

Rainbow View perhaps was the biggest disappointment on Guineas day, she remained calm in the prelimanaries which is unusual for her arriving home in fifth spot. Her trainer put this down to the firm going and aimed her straight for the Oaks.

Calm once again before the off which must have worried her backers she once again didn't live up to her reputation that she gained as a juvenile of being the most outstanding juvenile filly of modern times. She will try once agin to prove that her contenders have not caught up with her.

Elusive Wave won the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches earlier this month and is a strong contender here, she looks top class and has to be considered a major player, Again took the Irish 1000 Guineas on her only start this season, it perhaps wasn't as easy win as connections would have liked, she needed a lot of niggling along by her jockey Johnny Murtagh and managed to hang on to arrive home first.

Lahaleeb has got to be another interesting contender, she won the Fred Darling Stakes on her first run of this season before going on to the 1000 Guineas where she just never showed any sort interest finishing way down the field. It was a different story at the Curragh in the Irish 1000 Guineas, she returned to her best on heavy ground to take runner up slot.
