A six furlong race for some very classy sprinters, ok not top notch quite yet but even so the Diadem Stakes usually thrills us with some fast and furious racing.

Heading the betting this year we have Sir Gerry who may well be on his way to the Breeders Cup Sprint if he performs here. He ran a great race in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot where he came in third. Unfortunatly he couldnt repeat this in the July Cup where things went terribly wrong resulting in him coming last. Obviously somthing was amiss here, his trainer James Fanshawe believes he is now sorted and back in form and ready for a great run.

Prime Defender is reported to be in great form following a decent run in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Sprint Cup where he came fifth, full of ability but whether he has what it takes to impress here remains to be seen.

Edge Closer trained by Richard Hannon won last time out at Newbury in August over 6f, he gave a much improved performance with a first-time tongue tie. This clearly made a difference so he steps back up here. Assertive also trained by Richard Hannon is another great sprinter who came second in the Ladbrokes Sprint Cup, definatly one to consider although I have to say Im sticking with Sir Gerry.
