Saturday brings us the 2009 williamhill.com Dovecote Novices Hurdle which is ran at Kempton racecourse, it looks set to be an interesting race with plenty of decent contenders all up for the £30,000 prize.
Alan Swinbank has high hopes for Alfie Flits who on his last outing took the Blue Square Novices Hurdle at Haydock in January, he previously had looked under shadowed by fellow contender De Ee Williams at Cheltenham but on this occasion it was he who outshone the field.
De Ee Williams will continue his rivalry with Alfie Flits here, this six year old got off to a flying start, scoring in his debut at hurdles in October at Cheltenham and backed this up a month later at Ascot. No disgrace to come runner up in the Grade 2 Kennel Gate, beating Alfie Flits who could only manage sixth, the tables were turned last time out however in the Blue Square Novice Hurdle where Alfie Flits scored in great fashion.
Alan King produced the winner here in 2006 and this year has Trenchant.
