Last Ran: 15th February 2009
The rescheduled 2009 Grade 1 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup is the feature race on Leopardstown's card this Sunday.
Currently trading as favourite is the Paul Nicholls trained Neptune Collonges who was winner of the Guinness Gold Cup at Punchestown in April beating Snowy Morning. It was here he attacked the jumps and gave a great display and looked like he was getting better and better. He made his return in December in the Lexus Chase but was a faller, forgive him this which he deserves and he goes off as a worthy favourite.
The ground could well suit the Listener who also hasn't been up to scratch recently with a fall in the Lexus. Connections have worked hard with this ten year old at home and are hopeful of a good performance.
The ground could well go the way of Notre Pere who is on for a hat trick of wins here, he gave a great performance to score in the Troytown Chase and followed this up with a win in the Welsh National. This eight year old could be a real danger to the favourite if he arrives in the great form he has been.
