Last Ran: 17th January 2009
The 2009 Grade 2 Montpelier Group Lightning Novices Chase gets underway on Saturday 17th January at Ascot racecourse.
Free World trained by Paul Nicholls is a bold jumper and looks like the one to beat. He has won and come runner up at Sandown recently the latter being the Grade 2 Henry VIII Novices Chase where he looked like the real deal and one who would progress to a big prize.
Cool Operator goes for Howard Johnson and also to make it three from three after wins at Sedgefield and Huntingdon, Alan King has Turkish Surprise and Oh Crick who is usually up there in the mix but has yet to score this season.
Calgary Bay is a promising chaser and showed his form on New Years Day winning the Grade 2 Dipper Novices Chase, he is one that powers down the track and should run a good one here.
