The Mitie Kennel Gate Novices Hurdle is held on Friday as part of Ascot racecourse Christmas meeting, the race is one of the best Novice races of the early part of the season and usually presents a thriller that has been known to kick up some great horses.

This year the bookies have a job to decide on a favourite, Golan Way, comes here on the back of a win at Cheltenham in the Grade 2 Sharp Novices Hurdle where he completed four wins out of four. A great jumper who could well make it five from five.

Dee Ee Williams is pehaps the greatest threat and he is looking for his hat trick of wins here, last seen in November here at Ascot he has proved himself on this course and distance beating fellow contender here Bergo in the process.

Bergo had a solid run, and it was no disgrace to be runner up to Dee Ee Williams, a nice sort and looks like he will relish the step up in distance, he could get his own back this time round.
