The St Leger is the final classic of the season and this year it seems we are in for a very competitive race.

First up is the bookies favourite Frozen Fire, trained by Aidan O'Brien, he has had five starts in his career so far, he flopped in the Epsom Derby but won the Irish Derby in fine style. Doncaster has suffered in the recent weather so the race will be a test of stamina for this horse, and there are doubts as to whether he will handle the trip. However he remains a hot prospect, he has the ability and favourites do have a good record in this race.

Look Here took a 33/1 win in the Oaks which has given her credability for the St Ledger, she has not run since then but her connections feel she has the stamina to cope, money is coming for her but whether she will be able to challenge the colts remains to be seen.

Alessandro Volta also stands out, trained by Aiden O Brien, this will be his first attempt at anything further then a mile and a half. He ran a good Irish Derby up until half a mile out when he suddenly veered left so he does have some quirks but also a bundle of ability, he stands a great chance.

A nice each way bet could be in order for Doctor Fremantle, he has had a setback with a bruised foot but hes a consistant sort. Came fourth in the Derby ahead of Alessandro Volta, he should make the trip fine.

Others taking their chance here and are worthy of considering include, Conduit who looks in great form and won the Gordon Stakes last time out and Unsung Heroine unbeaten in her two career starts, money has been coming for this filly so there are those that believe she can become first filly to win the St Leger since 1992.

Lastly we have Washington Irving, trained by Aiden O Brien, not one to over look and again a possible each way bet for this one.
