Two old rivals meet again on Friday in the Group 2 Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup, Geordieland and Royal And Regal battled it out for first and second slot here last year with Geordieland prevailing in what only can be described as a thrilling finish.

Royal And Regal made his return to work in the John Porter Stakes in April but after going off as the 6/4 favourite he had nothing to give finishing down the field, Geordieland makes his seasonal rerurn here.

Ask, trained by Sir Michael Stoute has won three Group 3's in his career and bids to get his season off with winning ways, the 2006 winner and fourth placed last year Percussionist also lines up.

Veracity is an interesting contender, partnered by Frankie Dettori and trained by Saeed bin Suroor who has a great record at producing the winner of this race. This horse is one of Godolphins big hopes, after returning to work in October after almost a year off this five year old has won the Jockey Club Cup and came a respected third in the Group One Prix Royal Oak. A promising contender that should run close.

Howard Johnson has Washington Irving a former Aiden O' Brien Horse while Blue Bajan, Centennial and Fiulin complete the field.
