Match Date: 7th June 2009

Roger Federer is on traget for his first French Open title after he fought back against Juan Martin del Potro when he was two sets to one down. If he takes the title here he will make news by being only the sixth player to win all Grand Slams and leave him level with Pete Sampras with 14 grand-slam crowns.
Robin Soderling is having quite a remarkable journey, he also had to fight for his place here coming back from 4-1 down in the final set to beat 12th seed Fernando Gonzalez. This is Soderling's first Grand Slam title and although very few would have predicted it he deserves to take his chance.
His game throughout the tournament has been breathtaking, full of power and composure, he has held his nerve when it matters and quite simply has been the better player.
The two players have met on nine occasions with Federer having won them all, however Soderling is playing like never before, his acheivements must not be underestimated having beaten Nadal in the last 16, sent Nikolay Davydenko packing in the quarter-finals, and beat the man who put Murray out of the tournament.
There won't be a dry eye in the house if Federer can clinch this title but he has got his work cut out, Soderling looks like a champion in waiting, he is brimming with confidence and could be the person we least expected to snatch the title from Federer.
