Match Date: 17th October 2009

Novak Djokovic arrives at the semi's of the Shangai Masters but it took a lot of grit and deternmination to arrive here.
His previous match against Gilles Simon was a lot tougher than most would have anticipated with Simon refusing to give in for much of the match.
Djokovic became obviously frustrated as he misjudged shots, produced double faults and made a lot of unforced errors but somehow he manged to claw his way to victory against a player who turned out to be one of the trickiest he has faced so far in this tournament.
Sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko is next up for Djokovic, he had a rather easier time of it to reach the semi's beating Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic 6-1 4-6 6-1.
The two players have met on three occasions, all in 2008, Davydenko has won just the once when Djokovic retired but we could see the tide turning here.
Davydenko has been a much more relaxed player throughout the tornament and it does seem it is Djokovic that is tired after such a hard season, this match has all the makings of another grueling session and because of that it is Davydenko that gets my vote.
Review
Davydenko gave the all or nothing approach to get the better of Djokovic on this occasion in a little over three hours, he won the match 4-6 6-4 7-6 (7/1).
