Match Date: 2nd September 2008

Andreev is having a great US Open so far but it is hard to see him progressing any further than this match. From Russia, he is a clay court player who produced his best in 2007 when he reached the quarter finals of the French Open.
Federer has cruised through his matches so far and definately looks happier and more relaxed than he has for most of this season. A win here will prove he is back on track, he has not lost a match here since 2003 and as the odds suggest it is highly unlikely that Andreev will break this record here.

Review
This one proved to be a tough match for Federer as Andreev pushed him all the way before Federer eventually won through in five sets 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
