After an easy 6-4, 6-2 1st round win over Tursunov, Federer continues his journey to gold at Beiing. He now faces Rafael Arevalo who took a suprise victory over Korean Hyung Taik Lee 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This was Arevalo's first win in the top 100, he is ranked 447th in the world.

The two have never met before and on paper it would seem this will be an easy 2nd round for Federer but take nothing for granted in tennis. Arevalo played a good 1st round match and Federer doesn't have a fantastic Olympic record, he finished fourth in 2000 and his dreams of gold were shattered after just one match last time round.
