Tournament Dates: 9th November 2008 - 16th November 2008
The ATP Masters Cup is the season ending tournament for the men's ATP Tour, where the top eight men from that year's rankings all compete.
Unlike all other events on the ATP Tour, the Masters Cup is not a straight knockout tournament - the players are split into two groups of four, and in each group, all players play all other players, meaning every player has three matches to progress.
The top two from each group then play the Semi-Finals and Final.
The tournament has often moved venue and changed name - being hosted in Houston, Frankfurrt, Sydney, Lisbon and New York over the years to name just a few.
From 2009 onwards, the tournament will be renamed to the ATP World Tour Finals, and will be staged in London at the O2 arena from 2009 until 2013.
Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl jointly hold the record for the most wins with five each.
This year in 2008 we are without Nadal who withdrew due to fatigue but we are still in for a great showdown with the big guns Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Davydenko, Roddick, Tsonga, del Potro and Simon who replaced Nadal.
