The Rome Masters is held in Rome, Italy and is played on clay courts.
The event was previously known as the Italian Open, changing its name in 2002. Its current official sponsored name is the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.
Many tennis fans consider the Rome Masters to be the second most prestigious clay court tennis tournament in the world, after the French Open.
Novak Djokovic is the reigning men's champion, taking over from Rafael Nadal who won this tournament three years running from 2005-2007.
