Why should I sign up a new betting site instead of an established one?

We get it, there’s a certain amount of risk involved putting your faith in with a new betting site, they haven’t quite got a trustworthy reputation yet amongst punters and quite right too. We’ve seen it far too many times, a new betting site pops up, they attract a load of new customers, 6 months down the line a few big winners come in and they close down. If you’re looking for tried and tested sites check out our best betting sites list.

Thankfully with all the new sites you see listed here will have been vetted by the UKGC so customers will always be protected but that doesn’t mean it’s not an exceptionally tedious experience.

With being new to the market, these sites will try to carve out as much market share as they possibly can do when they’re fresh in the eyes of the punter. That means expect to see them competing on the following categories:

Odds – Better odds is what every punter wants in reality, while it doesn’t have the glitz and glamour of a huge welcome bonus, bonuses only represent free cash. Where as odds represent how much real money you can win should your bet come in. With that in mind one of the simplest ways new bookies can compete with older more established sites is by offering higher odds and working on a lower margin.

Bonuses – An easy one to figure out, we’ve already mentioned that free bets are the way to a punter’s hearts. The bigger the better and with fierce competition new betting sites are always trying to outdo each other. This results in bigger bonuses with less stringent terms and conditions. This can only be sustained for so long though before the liabilities are too high so make sure you jump on the really good offers while you still can.

Payout Speed – We’re in 2020 guys, the days of waiting 3 – 5 days for a bank transfer of card payment are well over. Or at least in our opinion they should be. One area that new betting sites can certainly compete with the established sites is how quick payout speeds are processed. The faster the money hits out account the better.

What are the new betting sites doing to stay ahead of the game?

Lets face it, online betting is without a doubt one of the most competitive industries in the world. With player values constantly rising and the gap between competition growing. New bookmakers have to enter the market fast and they have to enter it hard.

Truly utilising their creativity to improve upon whats currently available. Here are a few of the things that we’ve seen recently which truly differentiates new betting sites from the rest of the competition:

Social Betting – This is something punters have been crying out for since social media came around. Truly social betting would have you betting alongside other bettors allowing discussion, even providing each other with tips. Social betting would allow you to copy each others bets at the tap of a button. One new bookmaker which is allowing this is BetBull.

Swipe Betting – Over the last few years we’ve seen swipe apps take off, think Tinder, Bumble etc. Well this has made its way to betting as well. New bookmakers like Bookee which essentially allows you to swipe through bets and choose the ones that appeal to you. While this type of betting is still pretty new its certainly catching on as a new convenient way to place a bet.

Customisable Slips – We’ve all seen requests for a bet by SkyBet and while they aren’t exactly what we’d call a new betting site this feature is certainly one that all new betting sites should be incorporating into their offerings without a doubt. Allowing customers to place a bet on some truly obscure markets, craft them into an accumulator and share them online with their friends allowing them to place the same bet. This enhances both customer engagement with the brand and puts them out there in a social aspect as well.

Advantages & Disadvantages of New Betting Sites

Obviously betting with new bookmakers has its benefits but it also has its disadvantages. We will be covering the ones we think here:

Advantages

Geared towards promotions – WIth promotions being everyone’s favourite thing with betting its no surprise that one of the advantages of new betting sites has over its older competitors. So expect more promotions over a host of different sporting markets.

Wide range of payment methods – As a new bookmaker coming to the market they should already be at an advantage over their older competitors. As an established site its harder to integrate new payment processors as there are more moving parts. However new bookies should be a lot better at this, due to being small customer base wise any new methods that come a long should be integrated quicker than their older competition.

Better faced for mobile betting – Its impossible not to be ready for the mobile world nowadays, if bookie was to attempt to set up without mobile betting already at its disposal it would fall flat straight away. New betting sites have this in mind from the get go, meaning you’ll get a better optimised mobile product than perhaps some of the older sites we have listed here.

Disadvantages

Trust – Trust is something that isn’t just offered straight off the bat, it must be earnt and can only be earned over time. With that in mind new betting sites start off with a trust rating of 0 meaning there is always a risk. We’ve seen may new betting sites fall within the first 12 months of operation. This is why we like to thoroughly review each site and only choose the ones which we think have a high chance of survival.

Lacking Features – Some sites have features we absolutely love, request a bet, cash out etc etc. These features can sometimes be lacking with new bookmakers as the cost to implement them is too big at the beginning.

Limited Payment Options – Payment processors are sometimes the most time consuming addition of any betting site new or old. So at the beginning some of the independent new bookies on our list will struggle to implement such options.

Whitelabel or Independent?

Whether you choose to sign up to new betting sites that are either independent or part of a white label network is completely up to you. There are benefits and negatives for both options.

White Label – These types of sites offer much more security in regards to funding and licensing than perhaps an independent one would. This is because they are actually a network of sites so in theory should there be a few big winners at one site this wont affect it overall as it benefits from a much better cash flow.

However on the downside because its part of a network you may find it very samey, this means once you had it at one site you’ve gone and had it everywhere. So if you’re looking for something different, white label networks may not be for you.

Independent – You get a fresh feeling at every site as they all operate independently with no link to a network. Definitely a good idea if you’re looking for a brand new betting site to sign up to. Also as they aren’t part of a network these new betting sites are able to truly customise their offerings meaning fresh betting offers and promotions, better odds, tailored experiences and more.

However one of the main drawbacks to using independent sites is should there be cash flow issues so early on then you’ve got a chance that the website could go under (we’ve seen this so many times before now)

How safe are new betting sites to sign up to?

If we’ve got the site in our new betting sites list above then you can rest assured knowing they’re safe and reliable. However the danger with new sites is who knows what will happen over the year, change of ownership, big winners these are all things that can ultimately bring about the downfall of even the best new betting sites.

However UK punters will benefit from all these sites being licensed by the UKGC so if a new betting website does fold you’ll always be able to get your money back thats held in your account.

Types of licenses required by new bookmakers

For all new bookmakers wanting to take customers from the UK they need to be licensed by the following places:

UK: Being licensed by the UKGC is one of the hardest entities to receive one from. This signifies to us as punters that they are a trustworthy and reliable place to bet and its certainly a boon should a new betting website feature this on their site.

Malta: A tiny island based off the coast of the mediterranean. MGA is another entity that is well respected amongst the betting world and allows the bookmaker to process new customers should they wish to.

New Betting Sites FAQ

Some of our readers have reached out in the past with questions regarding New Betting Sites & Bookmakers so we’ve decided to list the more commonly asked questions here:

Can I trust new betting sites?

This is the most common question that we get asked by people betting online and the answer is always the same. First and foremost if we list them then we can trust them. Secondly if they’re actually a licensed entity then you will be protected as a punter. Thirdly if anything was to go wrong, you can always use an arbitration service and they will step in for you.

I’ve seen an unlicensed site. Can I sign up?

The choice is always yours, however we do advise using any unlicensed betting operators. While they may offer ludicrous welcome bonuses theres a reason behind that, these places cannot be trusted as they will confiscate your winnings and rarely ever payout. In our opinion the risk isn’t worth the free bet reward that they may have on offer for you.

Whats the best new betting site we list?

Betting sites are all about opinions and everyone one of us has a different one. This is the same with new betting sites, unfortunately we cant tell you which one to sign up to we can only guide you with the ones we feel you should have in your betting arsenal.

What happens if i see a new bookmaker that isnt listed here?

There could be a few reasons why we havent listed them, maybe we didnt like them or trust them enough to recommend to our punters or perhaps we just havent come across them yet. Feel free to reach out to us though and request a review and we will set one of the team on it rightaway.
